The Girl in the Ice by Robert Bryndza
When a young rich woman is found in the frozen lake of a nearby park, DCI Erika Foster is called in to solve the case. Erika has recently undergone the tragic death of her husband and other fellow officers when an investigation she was leading took a bad turn. This will be her first time back on a case since the tragedy unfolded. Not only does she blame herself but as this new case unfolds, it becomes apparent to Erika that some of her co-workers question her judgment too. In addition, the murder victim's father is a rich and powerful man who doesn't like the direction Erika has taken on the case. As she sifts deeper into the case, she is blocked and reprimanded at every turn. Jeopardizing her very career, if not her life, Erika refuses to be stopped until she has put this brutal killer behind bars.
This is the start of a new series featuring DCI Erika Foster. Erika is stubborn, fierce and damaged. Her pain oozes from the pages. She is also strong and determined and you will find yourself rooting for her every inch of the way. As the story unfolds, it will send chills down your spine. All in all, a great new mystery from Robert Bryndza that will leave you wanting more. And there will be more! Looks like Night Stalker, book two in this series is on it's way!
I want to thank the publisher (Bookouture) and Robert Bryndza for providing me with the ARC through Netgalley for an honest review.
